Why do I see a 502 error when scheduling with Google Calendar?

Question:

Why do I see a 502 error when scheduling with Google Calendar?

Answer:

Typically, we see this error when the interview invite has exceeded the 1400 character limit imposed by Google. When the invite gets sent from Greenhouse to Google Calendar, the calendar platform registers special characters in the URL differently. Characters such as quotations, commas, apostrophes, as well as & are counted as 3-4 characters each. I'd recommend removing some of these special characters to enable the interviewer invite to process without issue.

Additionally, if you elect 'Send Invite to Interviewers' directly from Greenhouse, you will not reach this error.
